From this:
Also, there is no real reason why you should like Hetalia even if you get the point of the series

I meant exactly what I said XD I was talking in general, not referring to anyone in particular among the group of people who understand and value Hetalia for what it is without need of being a fan or even liking it.

I'm lucky in that I didn't really get bullied for liking anime, but I was surrounded by people who didn't really like it or weren't really interested in it (neither of which are a bad thing, since everyone has their own interests [but the latter part made things rather lonely]). The only major thing was a lot of people around me believed all anime was hentai. :hmm:
Besides all that, I really find your artwork to be fantastic. So beautiful and enjoyable to look at.

Yes, when I started university I was in an Audiovisuals career and most people actually thought all anime is porn anime... that's rather uncultured and sad to hear form people who supposedly love animation, videogames, 3D, cartoons, etc. and who will be working in that kind of market...

There are all sorts of different stereotypes of each nation, it seems, but sometimes people will confuse specific traits with stereotypes and that's where problems arise. For example, people in Australia may have convict ancestry, but we're not all jailbirds or colonial rejects.
I have to admit, I do a fair bit of stereotyping with Australia, as I consider it a godforsaken, sun-baked rock in the middle of nowhere which catches fire at the drop of a hat and every animal, and quite a few plants too, is trying to kill you. But I know that I'm exaggerating when I say that, and I at least try and learn about other cultures so that I can acknowledge what they really do, as opposed to what everyone thinks they do.

With my rambling over... the artwork is simply gorgeous. The young lady looks amazing and the background is really well done.

I love the art ^^ Amelia looks so cute!

About the description, I completely agree with you. I have friends who love anime and I hate it when any of them tell me that their classmates make fun of them or find them weird just for that when in reality I find the people who love anime MUCH more interesting and smarter than what other people think of them. Everyone should be allowed to chose what they like! Honestly, I'm not really an anime loving person actually I'm more of a crime show loving person (I still respect others opinion though) but I love Hetalia (The manga more than the anime) because it shows lighter points in history but not in a way we could seriously be offended... That and because I find history interesting and I used to read the books we have at home and watch documentaries about ancient civilizations when I was younger (My two bestfriends called me weird for that but that's one of the reasons why they like me...)either way Hetalia just made me more curious different cultures.

I thought the reason they didn't make america fat was because it wouldn't fit in with the whole kawaii-desu-sexy-bishie theme? O_o; When my friends first told me about the show that's what I expected.

So, I sat here reading the comments, and I agree! In Spanish class, my on friend and I were talking about anime and manga and all that. She told me that I should join the anime club they were trying to get 32 signatures for (I never did because I wasn't able to get in contact with the person who could get me in), and another kid in my class (he didn't say this to us, but I overheard him say it) said "Anime club? If this is what our school has come to, I'm worried..." (Or something along those lines) I didn't say anything, of course, but it still made me a little angry. Luckily, I have friends who love anime and manga as much as me, so I really don't get made fun of too often.
Anyways, I like the picture! ^^ You did a very nice job with her~

I remember being the president of the Anime club at my school and I got alot of those statements. They were hurtful.

"I thought Anime was for kids...weird"
"You still watch kid shows?"
"I bet the club will be gone by the end of the month"
"Isn't Anime or whatever supposed to be perverted or something...that's just gross"

But you know what. Even after I left the Anime club and graduated, it grew even larger with over 47 members and It is going to stay around for a long time. So despite the people who judge unfairly there are always people who are willing to learn more about this side of life.

Yeah. Some people. :| It's really cool that the club grew! ^^ My friends and I actually think anime and manga is starting to get more popular; it seems like a lot more people like it than they used to... At least to us... I don't really know about other places. XD

And I actually think Japan is THE MOST stereotyped of all the characters and the one who suffers the most culture shock and stuff... come on it's just SO OBVIOUS what's this all about. But I don't care anymore, I have a life, unlike many haters lol

Geez, people who say Hetalia is promoting bad stereotypes take it WAAAAY too seriously.

Yes. Everybody IS a stereotype of that country they represent. But that's the hilarious part! Everybody is SUPPOSED to be that way and make people all over the world sit back and laugh at themselves.

I've said this before and I'll say it again:

Isn't it funny how the fans of a show that revolves around potentially offensive stereotypes are offended when they themselves are stereotyped?

I love Hetalia but the fandom's negative reputation doesn't bother me. Why should it? If I was truly upset, the course of action to take would be neglecting to mention APH in my comments/profiles, thus distancing myself from the weeaboo stereotypes.

I am talking about geeks in general, not about "offended hetalia fans" I simply used a Hetalia character ha ha.

And I wonder why should a Hetalia fan avoid to mention that he or she is a fan. I find it studid when people's accounts revolve all over a theme like the user name has to do with "fandom-of-your-choice" and also stuff on their profile and tag lines and web-signatures etc., but some mention to it shouldn't automatically gain someone a bad reputation for god's sake!

I agree with you that it shouldn't. But sadly, in this day and age, it does.

We're on the internet, meaning that if someone has an opinion different from ours, we're only two clicks away from people who agree with us. Flamers should be ignored - trolling is only a problem if you make it one.

You can't control the people around you, but you ARE (with some exceptions) in charge of your own actions. What you do speaks for itself, regardless of fanbase. Negative stereotypes about APH fans won't change what others think of me unless I fit them myself; and if they do, I don't want that person as a friend anyway.
