I guess you´ve noticed but there are things in life that I don´t care about AT ALL, and I care a lot about others... just like everyone. And you may have noticed that I am the kind of person that things globalization can be a good thing if we actually TRY to. I just love different people, languages, cultures, art... So this time I´ll be talking about some international-social stuff again, because I want to voice my thoughts inspired by many comments I receive and replies I write. Though I´ll give you just an example of my last conversation in which we mainly talk about China, Chinese and Korean people´s feelings about APH, their relationships with America-Europe-Japan and such things, WHAT I SAY APPLIES TO EVERY COUNTRY and how they act along history. So, think of China as any other country you want and think of chinese-korean-japanese as any other neighbours and you´ll find it doesn´t make a difference.
So yeah, before reading I´ll say this: we should be happy that we fucking have our fucking internet connection, our fucking food, and other fucking stuff; all of those mean something among the whole bunch of wrong things about our world is going somehow well. So everything is not wrong. So people can actually live in relative peace and evolve, be in good terms with others -other countries- etc.
Now, to the conversation I recently had (the poor girl, I wrote too much ;A; )So, a Chinese person commented on one of Shinatty´s pictures around DA and, as a Chinese, she knows and FEELS how the name SHINATTY is WRONG in many senses... pretty much as calling a Spanish "spaniard" instead, or a British "limey" it´s an insult, racist, nacionalist -from the other party- etc. You get the idea, just as you MUSTN´T call a Chinese or other asians "orientals", you should not call other asians "Chineses" an make fun of them, and you should definitely not use "Shinatty" when you refer to chinese people.
So, she wrote this (I´m just writing inspired by her words, not saying she is wrong) the following:
"I hate "Shinatty"this name so much.
Just let them japanese take it back.somehow,no wonder some korean dislike aph"

Then I replied:
No wonder why Frenchies should hate hetalia because the character that represents France is a fucking pervert and pedophil, and he is kinda weak at war and stupid in many senses. No wonder why British should hate Hetalia because they are called pirates and fucking limeys who hate everyone. No wonder why Italians should hate Hetalia because they are portrayed and absolutely oblivious and retarded.
yes, I know Shinatty has an offensive meaning for chinese people. Yet again, Arthur is called Limey and Antonio spaniard, which are just as offensive. It´s obviously played for laughs, since our neighbours are supposed to have love-hate relationships with us. In Hetalia all countries are equally made fun of.

Well, I think that if you don´t care about others, then you don´t have the right to tell them to respect you or "care" about what you say. And you are not going to solve anything that way, they are probably not going to listen to you like that... it´s just my opinion based in life experiences ^^
Also... the rest of the world do have many problems in and a history such as bloody as Asia, our horrible puns and deadly experiences with Japan, ridiculizations of our civilization in their culture, etc. Please don´t claim to be hurt like that as if others didn´t know a thing. I love Asia in many ways and I actually study Asia from many points of view, especially China, and I have my critics too. Just as I do with Europe, America, and other places. No place is better or worse than others, and all of them have points in their History that remind us that we human can be the most horrible beings in this world when we act like this: irrationally, seeking unnecessary power, with hate, full of empty pride, shielding our wrong acts behind cruel religions and racist believes... and lots of time full of vengeance feelings because others hurt us, and now they should pay double. That´s not how humans evolve; that´s how they DEvolve. Of course there are lots of cases in which you have to defend yourself etc, but if someone is attacking you is for one of the reasons listed before.
And because of that, I always wonder how many generations of haters should we deal with before people study the past, languages, origins and conflicts of their country and other countries in a rational and non-descructive way, trying to actually DO SOMETHING about the world instead of saying how their country is the best and claiming how others don´t understand their relationships with their never-forgivable-and-absolutely-cruel neighbours.
Also I think that if you want to make a point, you have to make a good critic and explain yourself, ´cos otherwise people will probably get mad... in this case I knew what you meant because I totally love China, I study Chinese and Chinese History, but even for me who already know about this situation and what Shinatty implies, your comment sounded very very rude and offensive -please don´t mind me telling you that, I know that strong feelings and experiences crossed your mind in that moment... but that´s why I said that I can understand it and why it sounds rude, but others won´t, and then they´ll start saying chineses are hates or whatever! And you and me don´t want that-
I think that you can´t just go and, without explaining anything, say "no wonder why koreans and chineses hate japan" -that´s not what you said, but that´s what people is going to understand from your poor comment. If you want this situation to change, you have to try to educate people, tell them why that name is so offensive and racist, what is the reason he is in Hetalia and called like that, etc ^^ It´s the best way to change people minds instead of starting flaming wars (if you don´t explain and try to the as polite as possible, people will insult you and call you intolerant and such, EVEN when you are right)
Hetalia is a great series that is making young people actually care about world history and conflics and culture again, which is reminding them that if they talk nicely, most mature people is going to do the same when they talk to you, even if their countries/families/whatever used to hate and kill each other. You are not destined to hate those that did ANYTHING to you just because you are Chinese and they are Russian/Japanese or from any other country of the Eight-Nations Alliance. The author of Hetalia is actually a man who loves history and who, unlike most japanese people, takes great interest in the world and hates the fact that "everyone" in Japan is so blindly nacionalist and racist. He has been living abroad like many of us, he has experience with people different to his country and race, with people that was educated in a very different way than him. It deserves more credit than just a bare "so offensive no wonder why people hate it japanese don´t know anything about the world". This kind of adult humor and history is not for everyone, but for people with enough brains to understand what critic lies behind the cute innocent looking characters in Hetalia: yes, including Shinatty. And Chinese people should be happy that they have 4 different characters to represent all the good and bad things of their country (while for example the whole USA only have Alfred and his female partner... should the americans from the states hate Hetalia because Alfred acts really childish, never polite, he has no manners, he doesn´t even know where Canada is, he´s obsessed with fast food, totally egocentric and all dorky?)
I really can´t see how the good and bad things of each country represented in Hetalia aren´t well balanced as many Koreans and Chineses claim, even if we are talking of an "evil japanese anime from the evil Japan". I wonder what kind of problem they´ll find if it was manhua instead:

AND so on. If you think about it, IT DOESN´T MAKE SENSE. It doesn´t make sense not because it ISN´T real -which it is, history is terrible, facts are facts- but because Hetalia, history, languages and many other things are supposed to remind people that we are not better or worse than the other, we all are just inmature idiots for not using our brains and letting history repeat itself.
